Just call me, if I can't help you, I may be able to refer you to someone who can. Thanks for your time! About 'green', I've been interested in alternative building materials for over 15 years. I've participated in several types of construction; Rastra, straw, Earthship, E-crete, etc. The most energy efficient designs start with the site strategy and using local building material manufacturers. If you would like to a have a Green Globe, LEED or Passive Energy certified building, an independent consultant is required for the certification process. Typically I don't mark-up consultants fees, if we keep the contractual obligations very clear. The building codes that most government agencies have adopted already include some energy design verification by the architect. It does affect the fee, but not significantly at this time. Building codes will become more energy conscious and stringent pretty soon and will require some additional calculations and energy checks; it will affect the fees of all consultants. 2010 update, I'm learning BIM, 3-D software. I'll be up to speed very soon.
